WFD River Waterbody Catchments Cycle 2

The WFD River Waterbody Catchments Cycle 2 are a polygon dataset collated as defined for the implementation of the Water Framework Directive. Catchments are defined as an area of land from which all surface run-off flows through a series of streams, rivers and, possibly, lakes to a particular point in the water course such as a river confluence. Since rivers are attributed with a unique identifier 'WB_ID' this dataset can be linked directly to the WFD river waterbody to which it relates.

This data also contains areas of land which drain directly to the coastal or estuarine waters, rather than through a river water body. These have A 'WB_ID' as a number, a WB_Cat of 'Coastal Catchment' and all are named 'Not part of a river WB catchment' Attribution statement: © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right 2015.
