TPO Trees (Groups, Areas and Woodlands)

Bradford Council maintains 2 separate data sources for its recording and management of Tree Preservation Orders (TPO), Single_Tree_Inspire and Groups_Areas_Woodlands. Both datasets must be used in conjunction to provide a comprehensive dataset of TPO within its boundary. Users of this dataset must be aware that this is NOT the definitive dataset and reveals only Confirmed Orders. Any and all queries with regard to TPOs should be directed to Bradford Council’s Planning Department. In 2002 Bradford Council carried out a data capture exercise to digitise its paper (map based) records of its TPOs, since then it has created and managed its TPO records via ESRI’s desktop products and the IDOX Uniform TPO Module. A tree preservation order is a written order made by a local planning authority (e.g. a borough, district or unitary council or a national park authority) which, in general, makes it an offence to cut down, top, lop, uproot, wilfully damage or wilfully destroy a tree protected by that order without the authority’s permission.
