Horsham District Council Air Quality Areas

Horsham District Council Air Quality Management Areas. The Council's Environmental Health Section undertakes monitoring for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) at sites throughout the district. Nitrogen dioxide is a colourless gas produced by combustion processes and is emitted from vehicle exhausts. It can have an adverse health impact at high levels. To protect the public a level is set by legislation that is sufficiently low that the concentration of nitrogen dioxide normally found is unlikely to have any health effects. Where levels exceed the permitted limits the Council can designate an Air Quality Management Area. The locations of the current area/s are shown by this data. Polygon data captured against Ordnance Survey Mastermap from boundary alignments marked on official designation maps. Attribute fields included: 1. FID = Area reference; 2. NAME = Location of designated area.
