43 sites were surveyed at Milford Haven in 1978 and 1979, but no report was produced. Instead the original raw data sheets and copies of edge-punched cards have been included as a seperate volume of Hiscock, K. (1981) 'SWBSS: Final Report'. Area covered was from St Annes Head and West Angle Bay to the Cleddau Bridge. A wide variety of habitats and communities present including open coast communities of algae and animals on bedrock in the outer Haven and communities on stones, gravel and mud in various locations. An extensive bed of seagrass Zostera marina and a bed of sparse maerl were also present. The presence of jetty piles and other man-made structures enriched the habitats present in the area. The variety of habitats and communities in Milford Haven is so great that no one particular area can be identified here as characteristic, although Watchhouse Point and Dale Point provide good examples of rocky subtidal habitats and communities. N.B. Species have been recorded using the abundance scale as detailed in SWBSS final report. Records currently considered sensitive have been removed from this dataset.
