Greater Manchester Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Spatial Data for the Greater Manchester Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS)

This dataset comprises the spatial layers associated with the Greater Manchester Local Nature Recovery Strategy, as published in August 2025. These layers have been developed collaboratively through a local partnership, in accordance with statutory guidance issued by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

The dataset includes mapped areas identified as being of particular importance for biodiversity, encompassing nationally and locally designated conservation sites, irreplaceable habitats, and other ecologically significant locations. It also identifies areas with potential to become of particular importance for biodiversity, including those that may serve as ecological corridors or stepping-stones to support nature recovery.

Collectively, these spatial layers define the footprint of the Greater Manchester Nature Network, representing a strategic vision for enhancing and connecting habitats across the region in support of biodiversity and wider environmental objectives.
