This file details the information of “taxa” in Great Britain that have been undergone an IUCN Red List assessment for Great Britain (GB).
JNCC collates information on taxa that have been assessed, quality assured, and published in a Statutory Nature Conservation Body approved GB IUCN Red Lists. GB Red lists cover England, Scotland, and Wales – they do not cover Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. For further information on GB red listing, please visit the Red Lists in Great Britain webpage.
Due to the efforts of our Red List partners, national GB Red Lists have been completed for multiple species groups. Key data from these Red Lists can be found in this resource. GB red listing Data can also be found in the following:
JNCC red listing resources are updated every 6 months, reflecting the frequency of GB Red List publication. There may be GB Red Lists published in between updates that will not be captured until the next update. A list of recent and upcoming updates can be found on the Red lists in Great Britain webpage. Please note that this dataset is currently incomplete, and is due to be updated in mid-June 2026.
If you have any feedback on the dataset and dashboard, please let us know by completing the GB Red List Dashboard feedback form.
Note that the generic term "taxa" is in this context a more strictly accurate term than "species" because some of the listed entities are ranked as being either above or below the "species" level.
