1992 - 1992 Centre for Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science (Cefas) Survey : CIRO 9/92 (part of North Sea Groundfish Survey, Qtr 3 (FSS: IBTS3E; NSGFS))

This survey was undertaken by Cefas as part of the North Sea Groundfish Survey, Qtr 3 (FSS: IBTS3E; NSGFS);

75 core trawl stations are completed annually, to provide distribution and stock composition estimates for fish species. Station, catch, length (all species) and biological data (selected species) are collected using research vessels and GOV trawls. Benthic catches are also recorded. These annual surveys (ongoing) are carried out in support of EU data regulations and as part of the International Bottom Trawl survey. Additional aims include collection of water temperature, salinity and litter data.

Survey took place between 14/08/1992 and 10/09/1992 on Cirolana

Equipment used during this survey :

  • Bottle Casts Nansen bottles Reversing surface and bottom
  • Otter Trawl GOV Long Wing 36/47 Standard IYFS Spec.

Survey operations were undertaken on 150 stations

81 different species were caught on this survey
