Statutory Safeguarding Zones - Bedenham, Fleetlands, Frater - Storage of munitions

The dataset shows the spatial extent of the statutory safeguarding zones represented on the corresponding hardcopy statutory safeguarding plans. Purpose: Safeguarding is a statutory based consultative system whereby MOD arranges with Directing Authorities (Communities and Local Government in England; the Scottish Government in Scotland, and the Welsh Government for Wales) for the issue of directions under the Town and Country Planning Acts to Local Planning Authorities (LPAs). The Directions consist of a safeguarding map and a covering letter which is signed by the relevant Directing Authority. LPAs are requested to consult D.I.O. Safeguarding before granting planning permission for development within safeguarding zones which meet criteria in the direction and the safeguarding map. The 5 statutory safeguarding plan types are: Plan A - Aerodromes Plan B - Birdstrike Zones Plan E - Explosive Storage Areas Plan Plan R - Ranges (Air Weapons Ranges) Plan T - Technical sites Supplemental_Information: NOTE: THE DATA REPRESENTED MAY NOT SHOW THE TRUE SAFEGUARDING EXTENTS AND MAY ONLY SHOW AN APPROXIMATE EXTENT. SAFEGUARDING DATA AND THE SAFEGUARDING SITES LIST IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND IS SUBJECT TO CONSTANT REVIEW.
